When should one get dental veneers?

Dentists may recommend dental veneers to patients for a variety of reasons. For example, when your tooth enamel has worn away, your teeth can become extremely sensitive to sensations of heat and cold. Veneers can act as a protective layer for your teeth to reduce sensitivity and improve the appearance of damaged teeth. Even if you want to improve the shape, color or alignment of your teeth, dental veneers can solve these problems and help you achieve a smile you can be proud of.

How does the dental veneer procedure work?

The first step in purchasing dental veneers involves a consultation with your dentist. This will help you understand what you are trying to accomplish with the process and give you an opportunity to address any concerns you may have. Your dentist can then take pictures or impressions of your natural teeth, after an x-ray, to identify any dental issues that need to be addressed beforedoes your veneer. Depending on the type of veneers chosen, the installation process may involve removing some of the enamel to ensure the veneers adhere properly to the teeth. Here are the detailed steps for each plating procedure to keep you well informed

Porcelain veneers procedure

The application of porcelain veneers requires several important steps to obtain the final result: a restored beautiful smile. Here is a list of what to expect. First, the dentist will give you local anesthesia (icing) to make you feel more comfortable during the procedure.A thin layer of enamel is removed from the teeth to make room for the new veneers. An impression of your teeth will be taken and used to create your porcelain veneers.
The mold is then sent to an outside dental lab where the porcelain veneers are made. This process usually takes 2-4 weeks.
While waiting for your porcelain veneers, the dentist places temporary veneers on your teeth to protect them.Once the porcelain veneers are ready, your next appointment is to place your new veneers.
During this appointment, the dentist will review the color, shape and fit of the veneers and adjust them until they are perfect for you. The dentist then removes the temporary veneers, cleans the teeth and uses a mild chemical to roughen their surface to help porcelain veneers adhere better to teeth.
The porcelain shells are then individually bonded to the teeth with composite resin cement. A special beam of light is used to harden the cement. The dentistperforms final cleaning and adjustment of your newly installed porcelain veneers
